The flat back is comfortable and unusual as many pieces have a cut out relief in the pattern of a grid or stylized crosses. Silk old hand embroidered butterfly with dangling bells

A hand carved and well-polished Mahogany wall relief created from a dense select piece of exotic hardwood

An excellent example of a very old cast copper/bronze currency bracelet from Central Africa (also called a Janberry from sources I have met)

The light reflects off the silk embroidery and the soft jingle of the bells wards off the evil spirits

In reality bowls such as this one were used by Monks and pilgrims all over Asia to eat from when they travelled or on holy pilgrimages

The figure itself is about  150 years old and feels very smooth and comfortable to hold

These currency brackets provided the materials to make the objects with and they were not used to go shopping at the market with

It has been in my collection for many years and was an ex-collection acquisition I obtained from a private collection formed in the 1960’s/70’s  (original collection number #401)
