They began to be made after the invention of friction matches, or vestas, around the 1830 40s. Nowadays they can be worn as an unusual pendant or can make gorgeous little keepsakes. Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1898 by Mitchell Bosley & Co who worked in the city's historic Jewellery Quarter, this vesta case is an exquisite example of
