CHARLIE WATTS IN A CROWD "Subdued" 1969 1973Something about this photo always appealed to me. Being on the road at least in 1969 on this road was way more appealing from the outside looking in. After the show, the extraordinary Charlie Watts would retire to his room and do meticulous line drawings of his amazingly conventional hotel suite. I begged him to publish them. Here they are happy as can be

They called themselves "Cookie and Cream

both technically and emotionally

We left jammed into an overloaded helicopter

I was 12 in 1969

"  They - especially the blond - seemed to have the desired look
